Three levels, licensed per server

Every vessel starts by seeing what is happening. Most want the crew to be able to act. Some want to close the door on standing remote access for good.

View

Read only. Status and guided diagnosis.

  • Live status of recording servers, cameras, viewing stations, storage and retention
  • Plain language explanation of what is wrong and what it affects
  • Guided diagnostic scan, collected into a single bundle you can send on
  • The append only logbook, with chain verification
  • No actions from the panel
  • No governed support sessions
Recommended

Act

Everything in View, plus a safe set of actions.

  • Restart a recording server or a single Milestone service
  • Restart a camera or a viewing station
  • Show failover state
  • Confirmation with a mandatory reason in front of every action
  • Automatic validation afterwards, with escalation when it did not work
  • Escalation to us with the diagnosis already attached

Connect

Everything in Act, plus governed support sessions.

  • Support sessions with a reason, an approver and a time limit
  • Every session recorded and written to your logbook
  • Replaces the permanent remote tool on the server
  • For shore based sites, an out of band path over 4G or 5G
  • In development. Version one shows access, it does not yet grant it

What it costs

First Mate is licensed per server, per year, in bands that follow the size of the environment. Commissioning and the crew briefing are quoted with it. We put a number on it after the survey, because a number without knowing your environment is a guess, and you would be right not to trust it.

How it goes

Three steps, and you keep the first one either way

1

We look at your system

A survey of your Milestone environment: what runs, what breaks, what your crew should be able to fix themselves, and what nobody should touch. You get the findings written down, whether or not anything follows.

2

We install and hand it over

First Mate runs as a service on the server you already have. About one engineer day, then a short briefing for the crew. Not a course, because a panel that needs a course has failed.

3

Your crew takes the first line

Day to day, the vessel handles it. When it needs us, we are already looking at the diagnosis instead of asking you to describe it.

Alongside DZT Care

The panel is the first line. We are the second.

First Mate is a licence. DZT Care is a service agreement: monitoring, planned maintenance, a quarterly report and a named engineer who knows your vessel.

They work best together and they are billed separately, deliberately, so you can always see what you pay for the software and what you pay for the people. Updates to First Mate are included in every Care band. Care is an offer, never a condition: the licence does not require it.

Questions we get asked first

Does it touch recording?

No action in the catalogue stops recording. Every action states its impact before you confirm it.

Does it need internet?

No. It runs on the server. A link is only used to send an escalation, and escalations wait patiently.

Can we move up a level later?

Yes. The panel already shows what the higher levels do, greyed out, so you can see what you are not using.

What if we stop?

The logbook is yours and stays readable. Removing the service does not take your history with it.

Start with a survey of your Milestone system

Half a day of reading your environment: what runs, what keeps breaking, and what your crew should be able to fix without calling anyone. You get the findings whether or not you ever install First Mate.
